Beautiful Dreamer

Beautiful dreamer, wake unto me,
Starlight and dewdrops are waiting for thee;
Sounds of the rude world, heard in the day,
Lull'd by the moonlight have all pass'd away!
Beautiful dreamer, queen of my song,
List while I woo thee with soft melody;
Gone are the cares of life's busy throng,
Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me!
Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me!
Beautiful dreamer, queen of my song,
List while I woo thee with soft melody;
Gone are the cares of life's busy throng,
Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me!
Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me!
Beautiful dreamer, out on the sea,
Mermaids are chaunting the wild lorelei;
Over the streamlet vapors are borne,
Waiting to fade at the bright coming morn,
Beautiful dreamer, beam on my heart,
E'en as the morn on the streamlet and sea;
Then will all clouds of sorrow depart,
Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me!
Beautiful dreamer, awake unto me!

Awake unto me:「私のために/私の呼びかけに応えて目覚めて」。

Sounds of the rude world heard in the day:*rude*

Lull’d by the moonlight:

queen of my song:歌の中心となる崇拝対象。

List while I woo thee:*list* は古語的な命令「聞け」、*woo* は求愛する。

cares of life’s busy throng:忙しく群れる世間・人々に伴う心配事。

mermaids are chanting the wild lorelei:ローレライは本来ライン川の岩・妖女伝説に結びつくが、ここでは海の人魚の魔性の歌として自由に重ねられる。

vapors are borne o’er the streamlet:霧・靄が小川の上を運ばれる受動表現。

waiting to fade at the bright coming morn:主語は直前の霧。
