この作品について

ウェールズの旋律NOS GALANに英語詞を載せた季節歌で、ここではThomas Oliphant系1862英詞の3節版を底本とします。

ヒイラギを飾る、竪琴を鳴らす、古い年を送り新しい年を迎える――この歌は、祝祭の行動を次々に並べます。その間をつなぐのが意味語ではない “fa la la” の反復です。
